It first goes steeply downhill from the high bank, where pedestrians hold on to the thick wooden railing in order to get to the Isar without accidents. And then past the snow-covered Marienklause. Finally winter sports again in the middle of the big city, you have to enjoy it, it’s a rare pleasure – strap on your cross-country skis and off you go. A few early birds were already out and about, the improvised trail leads along the river to the Großhesseloher Bridge. You share the trail with heavily masked walkers. They willingly make room for the cross-country skiers and step aside into the deep snow; In general, the people of Munich seem to be transformed; they are happy about the first snow like children used to be. It’s rare to meet so many people in a good mood. On the way back there was a near collision behind the zoo because a Munich woman in lambskin shoes took selfies in the middle of the trail. The cross-country skier rushing from the opposite side complains: “Why are it always the women who have to stand around on the trail?” Aha, so the Grantlers are still there after all.
