Closed halls, canceled tournaments, lockdown: Most clubs suffered badly from Corona. But TSV Forstenried has more members today than ever before. How did he do that?
Normally, sport knows victory, draw and defeat. During the Corona pandemic, however, many clubs experienced a single debacle. Halls remained closed and restrictions slowed down athletic activities. The Bavarian State Sports Association recorded a decline in membership of 3.5 percent or 130,000 people. TSV Forstenried was one of the very few who held their own brilliantly in the race – their following has never been larger than it is today. There are almost 3,500 members in the database, 40 percent of them children and young people. These are impressive numbers for a club on the outskirts of the city.
