Heart, kidney, lung, liver – the waiting lists are long. On it are the names of people who urgently need these organs in order to be able to continue living. But there are too few donor organs in Germany. According to the German Foundation for Organ Transplantation (DSO), 8,730 people in Germany hoped for a transplant last year. 6593 on one kidney alone. There are around 800 names on the waiting list for southern Bavaria and around 1000 for northern Bavaria. They all hope for the long-awaited call that can mean a new life. Hoping for a voice that says, “We have an organ for you.”
