At the initiative of a foundation, the goal scorer legend Gerd Müller is to be honored with a memorial in front of the FC Bayern Munich arena. “On a plinth directly on the esplanade just before the stadium entrance, Gerd Müller should shine in bronze 1.5 times life size – and of course in the incomparable jubilee pose with which he always celebrated his goals,” wrote the Kurt Landauer Foundation on Thursday and thanked Müller’s family and FC Bayern for their support. A cost estimate is around 150,000 euros.
The foundation expects the project to last one and a half years and has called for donations for the project.
Müller died on August 15th at the age of 75. He is by far the most successful goalscorer in the Bundesliga with 365 goals in 427 games. According to its own statements, the Kurt Landauer Foundation wants to remember the former President of FC Bayern Munich, Kurt Landauer, through its activities.
