The Verdi union called on all employees of the Munich waste management company (AWM) to go on a warning strike on Friday. Instead of emptying the garbage cans, according to the Verdi union, 500 of the employees demonstrated in the early hours of the morning at Stachus for the possibility of taking part-time retirement. The municipal employers rejected a claim to this during the collective bargaining round in spring 2023.
Garbage cans that have not been emptied should be picked up again at the next cycle. If additional garbage arises by then, the AWM will take it away free of charge.
