Munich: Flames in the Feinkost Käfer store – Munich

A fire broke out in the headquarters of the delicatessen and catering company Käfer on Prinzregentenstrasse on Monday night. The fire department was notified shortly before midnight: a cleaning worker had noticed smoke. The entrance was opened by force; The emergency services finally found the source of the fire in an office behind the sales rooms. Furniture and office supplies burned there, apparently caused by a defective cable.

The fire itself was quickly extinguished. But it took the fire department around two hours to clear out the smoke from the 1,400 square meter store. There was also smoke in the basement and on the first floor.

The shop is located on Prinzregentenstrasse.

According to a company spokeswoman, the damage is limited: it is estimated at around 50,000 euros. The advantage was that because it was the weekend, fruit and fish – whose sales points were closest to the fire – were stored in the cold rooms, not in the shop. Only a few goods are so sooty and smoke-filled that they have to be disposed of. The fire has no impact on opening times: the store opened as normal on Monday morning at the usual times.
