Munich: Federal Transport Minister Wissing stands by the S-Bahn main line – Munich

Interviewed by

Heiner Effern and Klaus Ott

The largest local transport project in Germany is on the brink. The construction of the second trunk line, which will in future run the S-Bahn trains parallel to the first tunnel under the center of Munich, will be massively more expensive and will take much longer than has been stated since the start of construction a good five years ago. At the end of June, the Free State of Bavaria announced that the costs would increase from 3.8 to 7.2 billion euros. The first trains should not run in 2028, but only in 2037.
