The first 3,500 residents have moved into Freiham. They defy noise, dirt and construction site traffic, many are committed to a lively neighborhood. How the newly emerging district works, what is missing and how things will continue in the westernmost part of the city.

Steffi Walter-Seipt doesn’t get far when she walks through Europe’s largest new development area. Every few meters the young woman meets someone she knows, then she starts chatting. “Much to my husband’s chagrin,” says the lively 40-year-old and laughs. Steffi from the neighborhood, as she calls herself, is a passionate networker. Patrycia Marek, the mother of two sons, called the leader of the first Freiham neighborhood meeting place a “neighborhood multiplier”.
