Munich: Empty kiosks in ten subway stations are becoming art spaces – Munich

One kiosk has the words “Snacks” and “Coffee” written on it. And on the other “Tobacco”, “Confectionery” and “Travel Supplies”. There was no need to ask for long what function the two houses in the Munich subway stations “Josephsplatz” and “Petuelring” once served. It’s different today. Because the subway kiosks, like almost 30 others in Munich, have been empty for years. That means: Four of them now have a new role until October 26th and six more until December 15th. They house art, are spaces for installations and performances or for exchanges with passers-by. “Art Kiosks” is the name of the associated project, which is backed by several city actors.
