Munich: Dog takes the bus downtown – Munich

The police should be there for the people – but not only: In these days, Munich officials also had to take care of animals that, voluntarily or involuntarily, got on paths that were not theirs.

A dog decided late on Wednesday afternoon that it was too far to walk from Thalkirchen to the city center, where he lives with his master. At the zoo, he boarded an MVG bus, which actually drove into the city. Only there did the bus driver think that a single dog as a passenger might be a bit unusual. He called the police, who identified the owner with a chip on the dog. So master and dog were reunited.

Four baby birds were rescued by police.

Four bird chicks, which were also found in an unusual place on Wednesday, will probably remain orphaned: in an empty beer crate in the Spatenbrauerei. Apparently they had arrived with a beer truck that had brought empties from Augsburg to Marsstrasse.

How the bird parents managed to build a nest in the box, lay the eggs and hatch them, but above all: how long the box stood untouched in one spot is unclear. The chicks and their nest were picked up by officers from Police Inspectorate 14, cared for at the station and then handed over to the animal rescue service.
