Munich: Does the city hall coalition fulfill its promises for the city?

Realize the goals of the Radentscheid

This is what the coalition agreement says:

In the field of cycling, we are realizing the goals of the Radentscheid by 2025: Altstadtradlring and an efficient and consistent cycling network that connects all districts, cycle expressways and places of public life.
Safe and comfortable cycle paths in different colors with the aim of a minimum width of 2.30 m and usability all year round, at least wherever cars and trucks are allowed to drive faster than 30 km/h. This should not be at the expense of pedestrian and public transport areas or urban green areas.

This is how it is at halftime: The city council has decided on almost 60 individual improvements, with a few exceptions practically nothing has been built.

When asked, the mobility department responded with percentage figures: According to this, 11.7 percent of the Altstadt-Radlring has currently been built, and another 19.8 percent are planned. A draft resolution will be drawn up for 12.5 percent of the route, and 41.3 percent will be examined for traffic. 14.7 percent are in a comparably good condition in some sections and were therefore initially deferred. The Radentscheid alliance gave the coalition devastating testimony: the few meters built on the old town ring road could only be a start, it was said shortly before half-time.

In addition, five bundles of measures for wider and safer cycle paths have now been approved by the city council. Three individual projects have been decided and are being implemented (St.-Magnus-Straße, Zeppelinstraße, crossing Stadelheimer Straße)and the public has already been involved in eight projects (Boschetsrieder Strasse, Domagkstrasse, Martin-Luther-Strasse/Giesinger Berg, Pilgersheimer Strasse, Rheinstrasse, Englschalkinger Strasse, Elisenstrasse, Vollmannstrasse)25 projects are in planning (Isartalstraße, Lindwurmstraße, Reichenbachbrücke, Gebsattelstraße, Marsstraße, Rosenheimer Straße, Ungererstraße, Erhardstraße/Steinsdorfstraße/Widenmayerstraße, Paul-Heyse-Straße, Landsberger Straße, Lagerhausstraße, Albert-Roßhaupter-Straße, Nederlinger Straße and Baldurstraße, Truderinger Straße, Bad-Schachener- Strasse, Anzinger Strasse, Heinrich-Wieland-Strasse, Pfeuferstrasse, Ridlerstrasse, Stiglmaierplatz, Melusinenstrasse, Werinherstrasse, Waisenhausstrasse, Dachauer/ Wintrichring/ Georg-Brauchle-Ring, Hofmannstrasse).

The former pop-up cycle lanes on Elisenstrasse, Theresienstrasse and Rosenheimer Strasse have been converted into cycle lanes. A lawsuit before the administrative court for the white marking of the pop-up cycle paths was dismissed, the Bavarian Administrative Court confirmed the judgment of the Munich Administrative Court in the last instance.
