Munich district: CSU politicians are calling for charging stations on the motorways – Munich district

The CSU politicians Florian Hahn and Maximilian Böltl insist on Federal Transport Minister Volker Wissing (FDP) testing electricity production on motorways in a model project in the Munich district. In a joint press release, the member of the Bundestag and the mayor of Kirchheim, who is a candidate for the state parliament, wrote that the district would be “predestined as an infrastructural crossroads for southern Germany and as a sunny region”.

Hahn and Böltl had already made an advance in September 2021. Now it is time to tackle such regenerative power generation. They are encouraged by the Federal Minister of Transport’s recent appeals to specifically expand the charging infrastructure for electric cars on motorways.

Hahn and Böltl consider it practicable to cover motorways with photovoltaic systems, similar to those in Baden-Württemberg or Switzerland. No other area would be sealed, power cables would already be laid and noise protection could even be improved in this way. In their own words, both politicians are aware that such roofs are considered tunnels from a certain length and then different safety standards apply. But even a partial roof would be “already a benefit”, believe Hahn and Böltl.
