Munich: Dispute over a cut-off list for local transport – Munich

The Greens and SPD show understanding for the Munich transport company’s list of cuts, the CSU wants to save money on the construction of cycle paths, the ÖDP is “horrified”. Only one thing is clear: Nobody is hoping for more money from Berlin.

The MVG’s secret list of cuts for major public transport projects is dividing city politics. Parts of the opposition appeared angry or horrified. The coalition of the Greens/Pink List and SPD/Volt cautiously asked for understanding that not everything they would like for the transport transition could be possible. “We are of course aware that priorities must be set given the financial burden on local public transport,” said Green Party leader Mona Fuchs. The SPD also admits money problems. “It’s no secret that local transport is suffering from a funding gap,” said transport expert Nik Gradl.
