His new film “Hannes” was shot three years ago, but only now is the adaptation of an early novel by Rita Falk due to hit the cinemas. Johannes Nussbaum can be seen in the title role. The young Austrian with the blond curly hair has lived in Munich for two years, he plays theater, makes films and series. This is also the case this week, but there is still some time for dining out and shopping, bike tours and hikes.
Monday: Longing for Vienna
I get up, make myself coffee and sit down at the kitchen table in my small apartment. After that it will probably go into Baader Café, there I order coffee, scrambled eggs and a lemon soda. This special “Austrian mixture” is only prepared in very few cafés in Munich. With a slight longing for Vienna, I enjoy breakfast and the autumn morning. Then I get on the train at the main station to go to a current shoot. Unfortunately, I can’t say more about it yet, but the costumes and locations are breathtaking: I can’t wait to introduce this project to the audience.
Tuesday: Ramen for strengthening
After a long night of filming, I have to get back on the train to Munich early in the morning. Tonight I have an introduction. Hamlet. I like to eat ramen soup before exhausting performances. It’s especially good in the Takumi, I sip miso ramen with fried pork there. Two hours before the performance, I sit in the courtyard of our canteen, drink coffee, smoke cigarettes and go through my texts. I warm up in the cloakroom, then I meet my colleagues on the backstage. The admission begins, we hug each other as always and wish each other a lot of fun. It’s getting dark. Here we go.
Wednesday: nature as a gift
To recover from the last exhausting days, I cycle south along the Isar. At this time of year in particular, I like to do it. The air is good, you can hear the current of the Isar and you can be out of town within 15 minutes. I’ve been living in Munich for two years, nature is the city’s greatest gift. During the lockdown, she was my only salvation. In the evening I have an introduction again. Hamlet. Pinch your buttocks together. It’s getting dark. Here we go.
Thursday: perfume and polka
As always: first a coffee, then sit down at the kitchen table. Since I’m looking for a new perfume, I set off Perfumes Uniques near the Gärtnerplatz. The owner Eva Bogner is a likable woman who selects fragrances from small factories and presents them to her customers after personal discussions. This is about individuality and not about quantity. In the evening I’m planning a visit to the with friends polka, a small restaurant in Haidhausen. We drink wine, eat well and enjoy the evening.
Friday: Techno at the kitchen table
I get up, make myself a coffee, sit down at the kitchen table – and stay seated. I google the Munich band Slatec and is allowed to watch the drummer, bassist, percussion and trombone player and singer for four hours as they improvise live techno and play themselves in ecstasy. “Slatec” is in the Residenztheater in the production directed by Elsa-Sophie Jach The unheard of to see and hear. I’m looking forward to the performance on November 30th.
Saturday: hiking to chess
Me and my girlfriend torture each other out of bed early in the morning: We have planned an excursion. Get in the car in the direction of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, it takes three hours to go up to the Royal House on Schachen. Since the winter season has already started, we will hopefully not sit on the stairs in front of closed doors. But we’re wrapped up in thick down jackets, have black bread with ham and cheese with us, sipping ginger tea and enjoying the view. When you get home, you will definitely want to take a bath.
Sunday: remember and admire
We are in the final stages of preparation for a film project under the artistic direction of Sebastian Baumgarten. For the piece Brother Eichmann We recorded sound tracks by Heinar Kipphardt and held a live reading in the Residenztheater with a follow-up discussion with Noam Brusilovsky, Mirjam Zadoff, Jörg Skriebeleit and Niels Beintker. We want to remember. The online premiere is expected to be on December 14th. Later I go to the theater to meet my colleagues in The unheard of to admire.
Johannes Nussbaum, born in Lower Austria in 1995, first appeared in front of the camera for Ulrich Seidl’s “Import Export” at the age of nine. He became known with the series “Vorstadtweiber” and the “Steirer” films from the rural crime series. He studied at the “Ernst Busch” drama school in Berlin and has been a member of the ensemble at the Munich Residenztheater since 2019. On November 25th, “Hannes” starts with him in the title role in the cinemas.
