Meurthe-et-Moselle joins Moselle in red alert for today and tomorrow

On the Vezouze, also in the grip of a strong flood, “a maximum, close to that of the historic flood of October 2006, is expected in Lunéville [Meurthe-et-Moselle] during the night” from Saturday to Sunday. Hundreds of interventions in Moselle. In total, “136 interventions by firefighters” were in progress on Saturday morning, reports the Moselle prefecture. “The weather conditions have been stable since this morning. The rain has stopped in Moselle”, she adds. If the situation “is improving” in certain sectors, it “remains complicated in Hombourg-Haut, Boulay, in the Nieds valley”.

Heavy rainfall. The Moselle experienced abundant rainfall: “The equivalent of more than a month of rain fell in less than 24 hours”explained the prefecture on Friday evening, referring to a situation “impressive, but not dramatic” and not deploring “no deaths or injuries”.

Emergency services mobilized. More than 1,000 firefighters and 642 engines were mobilized to respond to the emergency, according to state services.
