Friedrich Ani’s new crime novel “Light Years in the Dark” once again pays tribute to those lost in the bars of Giesing. The 20th Munich International Crime Festival, which begins with its reading, also relies on proven forces.
The Blue Corner is rightly named; Whoever sits here, whoever leaves here, is certainly blue. Who could better describe this special mixture of alcohol and emotions of melancholic Boazn than Friedrich Ani? “Every man, every woman, every creature in this universe of stale air and crumpled dreams concealed their aloneness with the greatest possible devotion,” he writes in his new crime novel. “Secretly they were more ashamed of their loneliness than of worn shoes and uncut fingernails, holes in their sweaters, the trembling of their hands when they raised their glasses.”
