Munich: Collapsed crane operator rescued by helicopter – Munich

A rescue helicopter rescued a collapsed crane operator from a height of 50 meters on a construction site in Forstenried on Monday afternoon. As the fire department announced on Monday evening, the approximately 50-year-old man collapsed in his cockpit and was just able to make an emergency call to his colleagues on the ground.

According to the fire department, one of the colleagues had already made his way upstairs when the rescue workers arrived. Since the crane operator could not be rescued using a turntable ladder or aerial rescue vehicle, the fire department operations manager decided to rescue him by helicopter. A first aider and high-altitude rescuer from the fire department climbed into the cockpit to stabilize the collapsed victim and prepare for rescue by helicopter.

The crane operator was then transported to the rescue helicopter using a recovery bag. He flew him to a meadow next to the construction site on Königswieser Strasse. On the ground, the man was handed over to an emergency medical team and then taken to a clinic in an ambulance.
