Munich: Christmas presents in the Hellabrunn Zoo – Munich

The animals in Hellabrunn celebrated Christmas with early presents. Animal keepers distributed colorfully decorated Christmas trees among the ring-tailed lemurs, giraffes, elephants, baboons, giant tortoises and raccoons. Even the mice in the mouse house got little fir trees. The joy should not have been the same in all animals.

While the baboons rushed over the tree decorated with fruits and vegetables, the giraffes were hesitant at first – but at some point every animal becomes curious. Even the giant tortoises only nibbled on the tree decorations after a period of reflection.

For the elephant family, on the other hand, the trees were not even decorated, since the green is crushed and completely eaten within a very short time anyway.

Inquisitive people can visit Hellabrunn Zoo every day between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., the zoo only closes an hour earlier on December 24th and 31st. The 2-G rule applies – this means that entry is only permitted for those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered. An FFP2 mask must be worn at the checkout, in the animal houses and in all indoor areas.
