Celebrating together on a wonderful summer weekend on Ludwigstrasse between Siegestor and Odeonsplatz, where cars usually drive: around 60,000 people enjoyed it on Saturday and several tens of thousands more on Sunday at the “Zamanand” festival. It used to be called “Streetlife” and is now being continued by the same team, but no longer under the umbrella of Green City, using the Bavarian made-up word from “zamm” and “mitanand”.
With lots of music and a stage program in front of the backdrop of Munich’s classical boulevard, with Coburg sausages and exotic bowls, with a cargo bike test course offered by the city’s climate and environmental department – and with relaxed, happy people strolling. Social organizations and peace activists were there, as was the Bundesbank, which opened its Bavarian headquarters to the public.
On Saturday, the Siegestor, a memorial to peace, shone in the light of a moving live classical video broadcast from Lviv, Ukraine. Because of the IAA, the “Zamanand” is running separately this time, next year the celebrations will be together with the “Corso Leopold” again, on June 1st and 2nd and on September 14th and 15th.
Party mood at the Hans-Sachs-Straßenfest
Summer mood also characterized Hans-Sachs-Straße on Saturday at the birthday and summer party of the gay communication and culture center SUB.
This time limited to a maximum of 1,500 visitors instead of the previous 10,000, with an admission queue from the early evening, but with the best party mood, colorful drag queens and a rain of red roses to Hildegard Knef music. A weekend of summer classics.
