The operating company Red Bull GmbH has offered a reward of 10,000 euros for information about the crime or the perpetrator because of the fire in its future sports arena. In the period between June 14 and July 5, there were four fires at the construction site on Toni-Merkens-Weg in the Olympic Park. The police assume arson – whether intentionally or negligently still has to be determined, said a police spokesman.
In three cases, stored insulation material was on fire, in another a ventilation system. 14 construction workers were missing in the first fire, but they were rescued unharmed. In the last fire so far, three workers had to be taken to hospitals with suspected smoke inhalation. The total damage cannot yet be quantified.
