He fits the term “multiple personality” like no other. He is Stoiber, Seehofer, Söder. Wolfgang Krebs parodies Bavarian politicians with such intensity that you think you have the Derbleckt in person in front of you. Every Thursday, Krebs proves his art in the BR show “quer” when he plays Söder and Aiwanger in a permanent clinch in the final number. Now he is expanding his palette with a North German: Robert Habeck – not an easy task, as he says. Krebs is currently touring the country with his “Vergelt’s Gott” program, and he can also be seen again on BR television on February 3 in the carnival show “Schwabenweißblau”.
Monday: Sauna in the Allgäu
I usually have the first day of the week off. A busy weekend with numerous performances is usually behind me and then it often continues on Tuesday. So it’s time to recharge your batteries and I like going to the Bad Woerishofen thermal baths, because there is much less going on than in Erding, and the journey there is much shorter for me as a merchant. The thermal baths in Bad Wörishofen are also an insider tip among Munich residents, because the journey time is almost the same. After a few sauna sessions, the exertions of the past weekend are forgotten and I have strength for a new week.
Tuesday: design object bicycle
Today I am in the bike shop. But in a very unusual one: in the Pinakothek der Moderne, in the current exhibition “The Bicycle, Cult Object – Design Object”. The temporary collection opens up many bike paths. Function and aesthetics should be shown here, and that’s where I get motivation for my resolution to ride my bike more in the new year. Cycling is healthy, strengthens the sense of balance and protects the environment. And so this exhibition is also an artistic contribution to environmental protection. The Pinakothek der Moderne is the temple of my inspiration, because whenever I have the impression that I am stuck in my artistic work, I press the reset button in my brain by walking through the corridors and admiring the works. My way of looking at things is constantly being rearranged by accumulating the greatest works of our time. As an advertising salesman for many years, I also feel a connection to the products on display in the Design Museum.
Wednesday: Music Lessons
Music lessons are scheduled in the mornings. I only started playing the Styrian harmonica at the age of 53, and my teacher, Wolfgang Filser from Jengen in the Allgäu, is a very patient and competent master. My motto in life is to always try new things. I can only advertise it. For some people it would be better if the time wasted on social media responding to or spreading hate comments was simply learning musical skills, and I believe we would become a nation of musicians.
Thursday: Flying change
Thursday is always exciting for me, because on that day I’m recording the closing number of “across” on BR television. Since 2004 I’ve been able to take part in the show as a sidekick and I’m always looking forward to meeting my colleagues from BR television and Christoph Suess. Often I have to continue driving straight after the recording, and then on a stage to stand, which should not be far from the studio in Ismaning. Otherwise it will be difficult to plan the schedule. This Thursday, my path will take me to the slaughterhouse in Munich again with my solo program “bless God!“A performance there is always a pleasure. The inn in the slaughterhouse is the best-run cabaret stage in Munich and the host family Kraft have become good friends, but also excellent business partners.
Friday: hoping for luck
Today is Friday the 13th. And that’s a good start to the new year: superstitious people consider this day to be the epitome of unfortunate circumstances. But when I think back, that day in my life has often been a really lucky day. So let’s hope for great luck together and visit the Bavarian casinos. From Munich you go either to Garmisch Partenkirchen or to Bad Wiessee. At the end of the day, the casinos in Bavaria belong to the Bavarian Minister of Finance, and who wouldn’t want to play a one-armed bandit against Albert Füracker? Or try your hand at the roulette table. And for those who are addicted to gambling, the raclette table may stay at home. I’ve often performed in Bavarian casinos with my solo program, and that’s why I always came home with “Fortüne”. But maybe Friday the 13th is also a day to stream the film of the same name at home. I would make it dependent on the weather.
Saturday: Musicals in Fussen
If I didn’t have a performance, I would go to the Festspielhaus in Füssen in the evening. There, the musical “Ludwig2 – The King is Coming Back” has just picked up speed again, and I’ve been there so often that I could probably sing along to a few songs myself. Unfortunately, my voice fails in the very high registers, so that it was only enough for me to be a polyphonic word artist. But the atmosphere in the Festspielhaus is wonderful. Especially in winter you have a special impression here because the adjacent Forggensee, which is a reservoir, has just run empty. This year there are again numerous highlights in the Festspielhaus: the latest production by theater director Benjamin Sahler is “Brandner Kaspar” as a musical. The musical “Zeppelin” by my dear friend Ralph Siegel will be running there again from March. I think you have to see that.
Sunday: Worship Service
Let’s see if I can make it to church today. The plan would be to attend a service with Pastor Josef Fegg in Rottenbuch. I met him at the Oktoberfest and he has already visited me in Kaufbeuren. I know this is perhaps an unusual leisure tip, and as a former altar boy and remarried divorcee, I have a “special relationship” with the Catholic Church. But why shouldn’t you get inspiration from professionals in this time of crisis that we live in?
The former advertising salesman had most recently worked as a department head in the marketing departments of ProSiebenSat.1 and RTL 2 before he became a self-employed cabaret artist in 2008. You can hear him every morning on “Superbayern” on Bayern 1. On Thursdays he plays “Hubsi” Aiwanger in the closing number of the BR show “quer” together with Christoph Süss, where he likes to parody Bavarian politicians. His current program is called “Vergelt’s Gott!” It is already the seventh solo program. Krebs has been a permanent member of the BR show “Asül für Alle” by and with Django Asül since 2011. The 56-year-old has two adult sons and lives with his wife in Kaufbeuren in the Allgäu.
