Just a day after the crimes, police arrested a trio of pickpockets, aged 45, 25 and 24. The three women are said to have committed five pickpockets in the main train station and three in the Marienplatz basement on Wednesday. They stole several hundred euros.
As a result, pickpocket investigators from the police headquarters lay in wait on Thursday – and were able to observe the women at Marienplatz as they tried to steal an older woman’s wallet from her backpack. As in previous cases, the crime took place on an escalator.
The officers arrested the women. By comparing them with video recordings, they were also able to prove the eight crimes from the previous day.
