Munich: A refugee accommodation is to be built in Untermenzing – Munich

The people of Untermenzing are worried about the future of the local nursery in Pflanzen-Kölle. The garden center on Goteboldstrasse has been around for 60 years, and 120 people work at the location. But now the lease for the parking lot adjacent to the center expires at the end of the year. And the owner apparently no longer wants to rent the area to the Kölle company under the previous conditions. He has submitted an application for a preliminary decision, which provides for the construction of three private refugee homes for a total of 300 people and the construction of a 5,600 square meter solar system instead of the parking lot and a greenhouse. Useful life: maximum three years.

“The whole thing is probably a trick to drive up the lease,” suspects local politician Falk Lamkewitz. The Greens, whose spokesman is Lamkewitz, are against the project. On the one hand, because refugee helpers in the district already had bad experiences with private accommodation in 2015. “We already had it that the owners didn’t take care of it when there were defects to be fixed.” On the other hand, the citizens’ representatives consider the location on Goteboldstraße to be unsuitable, as there is neither a supermarket nor other necessary infrastructure far and wide. Quite apart from the fact that it “would be sad and in no way worth supporting if Untermenzing lost its very popular shopping facility at Pflanzen-Kölle as a result”.

The company management does not want to comment on whether the company actually sees the Munich location and the 120 jobs in danger as a result of the preliminary building application. Managing director Christian Jurisch says only this much: “We are in negotiations with the property owners.”

It remains to be clarified whether the project is permissible at all. Pascal Fuckerieder (SPD), chairman of the Allach-Untermenzing district committee, believes that the city “does not consider the accommodation to be approvable” – because the settlement context does not exist. The construction of a photovoltaic system, on the other hand, is still being investigated. Directly at the local building commission, it is only said that the entire application is still being examined.

The planning is also a topic at the holiday meeting of the district committee on Tuesday evening. Committee leader Fuckerieder assumes that, in addition to the Greens, the SPD and CSU will also reject the preliminary building application. “Regardless of what could happen on Goteboldstrasse.” The parking area, says the BA boss, is “absolutely necessary for the garden center of the company Pflanzen-Kölle” if the traffic situation on site is not to escalate.
