Mourning for Hubert Freiherr von Hirsch – District of Munich

Just a few days after the death of his wife Christine, Hubert Freiherr von Hirsch also died. He was 83 years old. The name and the more recent history of Planegg are inextricably linked to the “Baron”, as the Planeggers called it, and his family. The owner of the Planegger Castle and a large number of properties in the municipality and in the Würmtal originally comes from Baierbrunn, where he also ran a patent law firm. In a first obituary, Planegg’s Mayor Hermann Nafziger (CSU) emphasized the modesty of the deceased.

In fact, despite his importance – he was also a member and sponsor of various associations – Hubert Freiherr von Hirsch always stayed in the background. “When it came to any property issues in the community, the baron was always there,” Nafziger told the SZ. You could negotiate well with him. Nafziger also emphasized his “generosity and social attitude”. He did a lot for the community. The doctorate in chemistry was also very interested in the campus in Martinsried and had good connections to scientists in the biotechnology industry.

In 2005, Hubert Freiherr von Hirsch handed over the archive of the noble family, which had long been thought lost, to the Munich State Archive. The Planegger Castle Archive can be viewed there in its restored condition and can be used for general research purposes. The deceased leaves three children. The eldest son, Philipp Freiherr von Hirsch, lives in Planegg and has been managing director of his father’s company for some time. He sits on the municipal council for the CSU. A second son lives with his family in Gütersloh, a daughter in Baierbrunn. Hubert Freiherr von Hirsch’s funeral will be this Saturday, February 12, at the Planegger Friedhof. Many personalities and a number of flag delegations are expected at the funeral service.
