Mount Everest: Sherpa sues climbers who leave rubbish behind

Watch the video: Camp on Mount Everest littered with rubbish – Sherpa appeals to mountaineers.

In the mountaineering camps on Mount Everest, garbage left behind is becoming an increasing problem. Nepalese mountain guide Tenzi Sherpa pointed this out with video clips and addressed mountaineers from all over the world: “If you don’t want to take your garbage with you, then don’t come to the mountain. Leave your garbage at home and not on the mountain.” Tenzin Sherpa said there were sleeping bags, cutlery, shoes and other equipment in the camps along the ascent routes to the Everest summit. “We’ve got maybe 200 kilos into camp two and base camp now. But there’s a lot more there, maybe 1000 kilos or more. We can’t get rid of all that at once.” in the amount of 4,000 US dollars. However, the control of this regulation is very weak. Most recently, the American mountaineer Garrett Madison also called for no rubbish to be left behind on Mount Everest. As part of a campaign to keep the mountains clean, the authorities in Nepal in already collected 13 tons of garbage from Everest and nearby Lhotse this year.
