Addictions France is sounding the alert as the end-of-year holidays approach. On December 12, she presented the results of two studies on adolescents and alcohol. It emerges from the survey carried out by BVA 14 years old.
Alcohol consumption by 15 to 17 year olds is considered “acceptable” in a family or festive context by 55% of French people. Only 46% of parents of teenagers see this favorably. “Only 38% of those questioned associate occasional alcohol consumption with a high risk for an adolescent’s health, while 82% consider that regular consumption represents a high risk,” worries Addictions France. in a press release.
A majority of drinking establishments serve alcohol to minors
The association, recognized as being of public utility, reveals that drinking establishments serve, in defiance of the law, alcohol to minors, “almost systematically”. A test carried out this summer in seven municipalities in Loire-Atlantique, including Nantes, led to the observation that only one of the 42 establishments visited (bars, cafes, fast food stores, etc.) had refused to sell alcohol to customers under 18 years old.
Nine out of 10 people (and 94% of parents), indicates Addictions France, support the strengthening of controls and sanctions against offending establishments. “They make it the number 1 priority to reduce or delay adolescent alcohol consumption,” the press release concludes.
