more than 23,000 demonstrators against the pension reform

This Thursday morning, the meeting was set in Lyon at 11 a.m. in front of the Manufacture des Tabacs.

As in all major cities in the country, a demonstration against the pension reform project is taking place in the capital of Gaul. At the same time, several sectors such as schools or transport are affected by strikes.

Several thousand people responded to the call of the inter-union to parade between the Jean-Moulin Lyon III University and Place Bellecour. The organizers mention the presence of 38,000 participants, while the Rhône prefecture rather announces 23,000 people.

With nearly an hour behind schedule, the procession finally set off shortly before noon.

In its ranks, many union flags and jackets, but also a few yellow vests and hooded antifas are surrounded by a large police force.

It should be noted that the elected ecologists of Lyon, Gregory Doucet including, took advantage of the city council’s lunch break to meet in front of the Town Hall and support the movement of the day.

Before arriving at Place Bellecour, several damages were committed according to our information: the facade of the LCL bank in Cours Gambetta was attacked, a glass silo was overturned to allow some to obtain projectiles. It should also be noted that a police motorcyclist was knocked down without being injured by a motorist at the tail of the procession, it was an elderly driver who had lost control of his vehicle.

A total of 18 arrests were made.
