Investigators have secured other secret documents in the home of the US President. Nothing is known about the content – but one thing is clear: Biden should no longer have had these documents with him.
Just a few days ago, US President Joe Biden declared: “I think you’ll find that there was nothing. I have nothing to regret.” That was on Thursday. Then on Friday, a day later, the FBI arrived at his home in Wilmington, Delaware.
Biden’s lawyer Bob Bauer emphasized that Biden’s team offered the search. But that doesn’t change the fact that secret documents have been found again – for the fifth time. Documents that should not have been owned by Joe Biden. Six other classified documents from Biden’s time as vice president and senator.
Found food for Republicans. But there is also criticism from the Democrats. West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin said on CNN: “It’s unbelievable that something like this could happen. Totally irresponsible.” However, Manchin stressed that what Attorney General Merrick Garland did was the right thing to do, namely to appoint a special counsel.

Illinois Senator Dick Durbin, who is also a Democrat and the highest-ranking Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, tried to emphasize the difference between the searches of ex-President Donald Trump and his handling of classified documents. Joe Biden has said from the beginning that he will be completely transparent and has shown full cooperation with investigators – a stark contrast to Donald Trump’s behavior, Durbin said. But the Democrat also made no secret of the fact that he saw the matter as a shame for Biden. “To be honest, when documents like this are found, everyone loses their reputation. Simply because that shouldn’t happen,” Durbin said.
Former US President Donald Trump unsurprisingly reacted with glee. On his online platform “Truth Social” he wrote to Biden and his team: “You brought on this document chaos yourself by shooting at me so badly – and I didn’t do anything wrong.” Donald Trump’s perspective.
Influence on candidacy?
South Carolina Republican Rep. Nancy Mace has suggested that Biden’s case is even more serious than Trump’s. Mace said on “NBC” that the difference between President Biden and ex-President Trump was that the documents found on Biden had been missing for five years and nobody knew about them.
And Texas Republican Rep. Michael McCaul even drew a comparison to the Watergate affair. He doesn’t know what else will happen. But Watergate started with a small slump and ended with the resignation of a president, McCaul said on ABC.
What consequences the document finds will have for Biden, who is considering running for president again, is completely open. The investigation should mainly be about: Was it actually a mistake – or was it intentional?
