Many chips products are currently being recalled. Consumers are warned of health problems. Now there are warnings about other varieties.

Kassel/Berlin – Whether paprika, Salt & Vinegar or salted – chips are a popular snack. In supermarket chains like Aldi, Edeka, Lidl & Co., consumers have numerous products to choose from, and the shelves are full of them. However, the downside of the supposed variety can recalls be, since numerous chip products are manufactured by large corporations: This is also the case in the case of a current recall campaign. The recall was extended again on Friday (July 29).

The reason for the XXL recall is the massive discovery of herbal ingredients that can lead to symptoms of poisoning, for example. These are so-called “tropane alkaloids”. “Tropane alkaloids are a group of natural plant compounds. They occur in certain field weeds from the nightshade family, such as datura […]the black henbane […] and deadly nightshade […] before,” he explained Bavarian State Office for Health and Food Safety in this regard.

Chips recall: Numerous products affected – warning against consumption

Eating the contaminated chips can cause health problems. In particular, the symptoms of intoxication already mentioned are part of it. Examples of the symptoms are visual disturbances, drowsiness, poor circulation and, in some cases, extreme dryness of the mucous membranes. A general weakening of the organism, including the immune system, makes the body susceptible to further complaints.

The chips affected by the recall were sold in Rossmann and Alnatura supermarket branches, among others. “The corresponding products have already been withdrawn from sale”, said Alnatura, for example. Also Rossmann has already commented on the recall.
