“Monsieur Claude and his big party” in the cinema: Mon dieu – culture

Oh, France: How the film “Monsieur Claude and his big party” tells of racism, sexism and greed for money in the guise of a comedy – this time also with a German, blond man.

France is a mystery to itself. In hardly any other country in Europe is there such a big difference between what one would like to be – enlightened, elegant, pioneer of human emancipation and pioneer of progress – and the gloomy demands of everyday life. The last presidential election campaign pulled everyone down quite a bit, because it turned into a wild political circus, which was mainly about the thoughts of the extreme right, about more or less veiled racism. For months there was nothing else on television than immigration and “foreign infiltration”, while every walk through a French city proves that multicultural everyday life is actually lived quite idyllically.
