Authentic Provencal cuisine
The authentic Provençal kitchen has certain typical architectural elements, such as the fireplace, the terracotta floor or the wood and plaster ceiling. If you have these features at home, the ideal is to make them the highlights of your decor.
In this modern Provençal kitchen, we opted for a white patina for the furniture, for contemporary stainless steel appliances and for a refined decoration. The furniture thus retains all of its charm, but is discreet: a bias that enhances the volumes and architecture of this kitchen full of character.
This large Provençal kitchen has a very contemporary graphic design. Here, it is the chimney-style hood that attracts all eyes. Not only is it the only black element in a kitchen with immaculate furniture, but it literally dominates the room, since we opted for low furniture exclusively, with the exception of a few compact shelves.
During the renovation of many Provençal kitchens, the fireplace was modified to accommodate the hood and the cooking range. And when it’s not? We take the opportunity to fit a closet or – even better! – shelves on which to display some pretty decorative pieces. Iconic, the demijohn has made a remarkable comeback in our interiors. This fireplace, revamped in white, has a nice collection of them, and the result is pretty hot!
Terracotta tiles and old tomettes are one of the most beautiful ornaments of traditional Provençal cuisine. To highlight them, we put here on the gray. Very current, this muted color has the particularity of revealing all the richness of a color or a material.
When it is not located directly in the entrance, the Provencal kitchen is frequently equipped with an opening leading to the outside. This is an opportunity to add a contemporary touch, by replacing the traditional door or window with a workshop canopy model. Here, it is associated with a kitchen hood with a resolutely industrial design, which creates an interesting contrast with the natural stone walls and the raw wooden beams.
Provençal cuisine is far from being exclusively reserved for the renovation of traditional buildings, of course. During a construction or makeover of the kitchen, you can of course take hold of these iconic elements and revisit them. This is also the opportunity to decline them in a more contemporary, refined version, like this bright kitchen. Between Provençal spirit and minimalist design, it really has it all!
The contemporary Provencal kitchen announces the color
Ocher yellow, brick red: Provencal cuisine is often colorful, and sometimes enhanced with patterns. However, this palette is a bit vintage. To modernize the Provençal kitchen, we opt instead for trendy colors.
Yellow and gray are among the must-have colors of the moment. And as these two perfectly enhance each other, we do not hesitate to associate them! Here is a perfect duo to revive the traditional wooden Provençal kitchen!
Nothing like a patina to give a little pep to Provençal kitchen furniture! We take this opportunity to debunk some received ideas. Because if Provençal cuisine is naturally sunny, it goes perfectly with cold colors, especially when it comes to a blue with Mediterranean accents!
Is it definitely the Provençal cuisine in red and yellow that makes you crack? Let yourself be inspired by this vast kitchen revamped in white, before being highlighted with a few well-measured touches of color!
Audacious, the charcoal gray Provençal kitchen! This dark gray brings a resolutely factory touch to the decor: an effect accentuated by the choice of the XL format wall clock, one of the iconic elements of the industrial style.
Beautiful vintage sink, rustic furniture and lustrous brass on display: this Provençal-inspired kitchen is retro, without overdoing it. Its asset: an unexpected pastel blue, which gives it a light and very contemporary touch.
These days, white is a bit of a struggle, especially in the kitchen! We prefer slightly broken shades, which range from linen to ecru, and which seduce with their sunny facet. This modern Provencal kitchen combines cream walls and slightly muted blue lacquered furniture. Here is a well-balanced palette, which creates a soft and very cozy atmosphere.
Modern Provencal cuisine: attention to detail
When it comes to decoration, everything is often a matter of details… and this is all the more true in contemporary Provençal cuisine!
It is common for the low units of the Provencal kitchen to be devoid of doors, generally replaced by simple curtains. In order to bring a contemporary touch to the decor, do not hesitate to take inspiration from the minimalist trend. Remove the curtains, and expose dishes and utensils!
If this Provençal kitchen seems very traditional at first glance, its credenza and its worktop are resolutely contemporary, and that is enough to change everything.
