Fashion goes mafia. 2024 is below that, at least when it comes to fashion Star of Darkness. “Mob Wife Aesthetic” – as the new fashion trend is called, which is currently extremely popular on social media – displaces clean looks and minimalism and, above all, focuses on MORE. That means: dark tones (primarily black), opulent fur coats, heavy gold jewelry, animal prints and vintage designer bags. The beauty look is also adapted to the style. A voluminous mane, deep red lipstick and wicked smokey eyes are part of the standard equipment of the “Mob Wifes”, as are rosy cheeks and an always erotic look into the camera.
Mob Wife Aesthetic: wicked, opulent, dark
Sounds like something out of a familiar mafia film – and in a figurative sense it is. Because the name indicates who fashionistas, influencers and stars like Kendall Jenner or Irina Shayk draw inspiration from. The “Mob Wife Aesthetic” is based on the style of Italian-American women in New Jersey and New York in the 90s. To put it bluntly, they are inspired by the supposedly typical style of the wives of Mafiosi with an Italian migrant background.
Supposedly, because the Mafioso look is based less on facts and more on the image that film and television productions have conveyed for many years – think of Lorraine Bracco in “Goodfellas” from 1990, Sharon Stone in “Casino”. the year 1995 or most recently Jennifer Lawrence in “American Hustle”.
Almost thirty years after its “origin”, “Mafiachic” not only inspires the social web and international stars and starlets, but also designers and major fashion houses. At Fashion Weeks, like most recently in Paris, a lot of “Mob Wife Aesthetic” creations could be discovered on the catwalks. World star Rihanna, for example, also dressed in “Mafiachic” style for the occasion.
