Missile attack on Erbil: Iran pleads guilty – Politics

Iran has taken responsibility for a missile attack on the northern Iraqi city of Erbil on Sunday night. The Iranian Revolutionary Guards said they carried out a rocket attack on an Israeli “strategic center” in the northern Iraqi city of Erbil, according to the group’s official news portal, Sepah News. Previously, the news agency Associated Press (AP) said 12 ballistic missiles have fallen in an area near the new US consulate in Erbil. There were no human victims.

Citing a US and an Iraqi official, the AP writes that the missiles were fired from Iran. The rocket attack comes days after Iran announced retaliation for the killing of two Revolutionary Guard leaders in Damascus earlier last week. Iran blames Israel for the killings. According to Sunday’s Sepah statement, the Guard warned of a “serious and destructive response” to future attacks from Israel.
