She jokes about TV shows on YouTube. Now the comedian Mirella Precek herself is taking the big stage. Here she reveals why she seeks recognition – and what she had to experience after her miscarriages.
She’s not a classic celebrity – and yet she’s quite well known. Mirella Precek, 30, is a YouTuber, comedian and influencer. She is followed by 680,000 people on Instagram Youtube it reaches over half a million viewers. Online she calls herself “Mirellativegal”. Precek has achieved what few manage to do: remain relevant in the fast-moving Internet for over ten years. She started with beauty videos in 2013. Precek continued to develop: she parodied music videos, she spoke about feminism and the European elections. Her profile grew and grew. Since this year, Precek has also been touring Germany with a comedy program.
A dark December day, a bright loft office in Nuremberg. Precek sinks onto a red sofa. She wears gold hoop earrings, a pink striped sweater and a black Prada bag. Precek appears warm and approachable – just like in her videos. She speaks carefully. Like a woman who has had to read a lot of comments about herself in her life. She often ends her sentences with: “But of course everyone can do it the way he or she wants.” It seems as if she wanted to prevent resistance.
Woman Precek, when we met I called you “Comedian”. You grinned at the word, almost seeming a little ashamed. How come?
Because I was afraid of this term for a long time. I thought: It belongs to other people. Anke Engelke, for example, or Hazel Brugger. They went the classic route. Not me.
