Mining company – Glencore makes billions in profit – economy

In 2021, the mining group Glencore left the burdens of the Corona crisis behind. Global demand for raw materials and supply chain issues drove prices for many of the company’s metals to record levels. After two years of losses, Glencore is making a profit again: the surplus attributable to shareholders was almost five billion dollars. In 2020, Glencore reported a deficit of $1.9 billion due to the corona pandemic. After two decades, Glencore is also exiting Russian oil company Russneft. The sale was implemented in December and is expected to be finalized in the first half of 2022.
