The driver of a school bus, tried since Monday September 19 in Marseille for the fatal collision with a train in 2017 in Millas (Pyrénées-Orientales), had been hospitalized in cardiology after having cracked at the hearing.
This Thursday, Nadine Oliveira, 53, collapsed after trying for the umpteenth time to explain what she had seen or not seen before the collision with the train which claimed the lives of six schoolchildren and injured 17. others, some very seriously. She had returned to the scene after the accident but without being able to answer exactly what had happened at the level crossing: “When I look up, I see the seats”, evoking the violence of the shock in which the car was cut in half and the occupants and seats thrown out. After collapsing in tears, she will finally be evacuated by the marine firefighters.

Takotsubo syndrome
Nadine Oliveira was transferred, this Saturday, September 24, to intensive care “after a heart attack”, indicated her lawyer Me Jean Codognés to our colleagues from France Blue Roussillon. Still according to this source, the 50-year-old would have been the victim of the “tako-tsubo syndrome”, also called broken heart syndrome often generated by intense stress. The defendant “must pass a third scanner on Monday at the North Hospital of Marseille”, also declared her lawyer.
After the discomfort, the president of the criminal court Céline Ballerini had suspended the hearing until Monday after “a trying week” during which the defendant, who says she was destroyed by the accident, faced the pain and the expectations of the families who want to understand.
More than 120 civil parties have joined in this case.
