Milan scuttled against Roma / Serie A / J17 / Milan-Roma (2-2) / January 8, 2023 / SOFOOT.com

Long applied and despite a decisive Kalulu-Giroud duo, AC Milan has completely lost its footing in the money time against Roma. Even though the Giallorossi didn’t seem capable of hurting a fly.

Milan 2-2 Roma

Goals: Kalulu (30e) and Pobega (77e) for the Rossoneri // Ibañez (87e) and Abraham (90e+4) for the Giallorossi

Waste. Difficult to find a more precise term to describe the end of the Milanese match this Sunday evening, which at the same time leaves a boulevard to Napoli at the head of Serie A, and Juventus to pass second. Greater than Giallorossi (very) long harmless, the diavolo retreated more than reason when defending his piece of fat, and when the duel seemed to be over, leaving the dubious coaching of Stefano Pioli to do the rest. Dirty rainy night over Italy’s fashion capital.

Roman robbery

After twenty big minutes in balance, where a Roma – as usual – organized in a block square the meadow and the doormen idle, Rui Patrício must remove an axial minasse from Brahim Díaz, well on its way to lodge under his bar (29e). The sentence falls on the following action: out of the marking of Ibañez, Pierre Kalulu pricks his head and deceives the 2016 European champion (1-0, 30e). Unambitious, as on restraint, the Wolf seriously struggles to respond tit for tat. Not very altruistic after a combination with Paulo Dybala, Nicola Zalewski transplanted and still armed with the right, but his shot fled the opposite side (41e).

Returning from the cabins, the Milan barely shakes any more, and gets ammunition to make the mark worse. Eccentric on the left of the surface, Rafael Leão closes the angle (48e), while Olivier Giroud still soars through the air, but can’t do better than frame Patrício (54e). The rain redoubled and the crackers burst out, but Kalulu also proved to be valuable in the area ahead of Nicolò Zaniolo (65e). Finally, a call from Giroud frees incoming Tommaso Pobega, ideally placed to finish with a left foot on a serve from Leão (2-0, 77e), and thus put an end to the already rickety suspense. Too bad for Chris Smalling’s desperate tackle, and Ibañez’s helmet kick from a Dybala corner (2-1, 87e) for a barely deserved gap reduction. Yes, but in a parallel world only. Since on Dybala’s last-ditch free-kick, Ciprian Tătărușanu can only pull off one miracle past Nemanja Matić, before letting Tammy Abraham blast the Romans yardage and bench with joy (2-2, 90e+4). Stefano Pioli (and his curious defense at 5 at the end of the game) is therefore no longer 100% winning against José Mourinho.
