In light of the Russian war of aggression, Mila Kunis has spoken to her daughter and son about her Ukrainian origins.

Mila Kunis (38) made her children aware of her roots during the war in Ukraine. This is what the actress of Ukrainian descent told in CNN+ format “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace”. It is “beautiful” to come from different cultures. “We shouldn’t all be the same. We shouldn’t all think the same. That’s not the meaning of community and development. And so very quickly we reminded our children that they are half Ukrainian,” she said.

She, her husband Ashton Kutcher (44), daughter Wyatt Isabelle (7) and son Dimitri Portwood (5) have already talked about this in the past. Back then, however, against a different background: “I thought it would be good to know another language,” explained the Russian-speaking actress, who was born in Chernivtsi (former Soviet Union). She hadn’t thought about the cultural aspect – until “that happened”. It is “incredibly important to know where you come from”.

Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher raise over $30m for Ukraine

Mila Kunis also campaigns for her home country outside of her own four walls. In early March, she and her husband launched a fundraising campaign on the GoFundMe platform to help the victims of the war. They wanted to raise $30 million (around €27 million) and add another three million dollars (around €2.7 million) to that amount. After 48 hours, half of the donations had already been collected. After almost two weeks the goal was reached, as the couple announced on Instagram.

The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj (44) then personally thanked the actors in a video chat. Captioning a photo of the three chatting, he wrote on his Twitter account: “Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis were among the first to respond to our pain. They have already raised $35 million […]to help Ukrainian refugees. We are grateful for their support. Impressed by her determination. You inspire the world.”
