Borussia Dortmund must survive the second leg of the semi-final against Paris St.-Germain in order to reach the final of the Champions League. The game now in the live ticker.

Half time: So far everything is going according to plan for Dortmund. With a 0-0 draw, the final would be in the bag. BVB first had to get into the game and get over their initial nervousness. PSG started powerfully and had two half-chances through the dynamic Dembele and Ramos. After around 20 minutes, BVB were fully in the game and had by far the best opportunity in the game with Adeyemi’s finish in the 35th minute. In addition, as in the first leg, the Dortmund defense had Mbappé fully under control. If BVB manages to show a similarly courageous performance in the second half, then the final will be within reach.

Paris St Germain against Borussia Dortmund 0:0

Kobel – Ryerson, Hummels, Schlotterbeck, Maatsen – Sabitzer, Can – Sancho, Brandt, Adeyemi – Füllkrug
Donnarumma – Hakimi, Marquinhos, Beraldo, Mendes – Zaire-Emery, Vitinha, Ruiz – Dembele, Ramos, Mbappé

45+1. Minute: Half time in the Prinzenpark! It’s 0-0 going into the locker room.

45th minute: Almost the own goal by Schlotterbeck! Mbappe initially holds the ball in Dortmund’s penalty area and then passes it into the back area to Ruiz, who fires a powerful shot and is ultimately dangerously deflected by Schlotterbeck. However, the ball lands in the goal. Good luck for BVB!

39th minute: Füllkrug remains a little dazed after a painful aerial duel and needs treatment. After a short break, the striker continues.

35th minute: Huge opportunity for Adeyemi! Dortmund launch a quick counterattack through the middle via Brandt, who sets Adeyemi up with a through ball. Adeyemi picks up the pace and dribbles his way into the Paris penalty area, then finishes with his left while half falling. But Donnarumma is there and can parry with both fists. Best option in the game so far.

31st minute: Danger lurks especially on the right side of Paris from Dembele. First, Mbappé pulls three BVB players towards him in front of the Dortmund penalty area, then passes to Dembele on the right, who doesn’t wait long and fires a shot. However, his finish goes far beyond Kobel’s box. Next 0:0.

27th minute: Goal shooting ratio? 4:3 for the home team from Paris. However, there was still no really dangerous finish on either side.

23rd minute: The Black and Yellows are now fully in the game and have significantly more possession of the ball than at the start of the game. There are still no dangerous scoring chances, but the security in the actions is already there.

19th minute: Good try from Ryerson, who finishes in the Parisian penalty. From a tight angle, he blasts a volley past the right post and hits the side netting. BVB is now better in the game.

15th minute: From Dortmund’s perspective, the first quarter of an hour is over. And apart from one or two half-chances, there haven’t been any particularly dangerous situations for Kobel and Co. to overcome. However, Dembele in particular is making a lot of noise on his right side and employing Maatsen with dangerous dribbles whenever possible. This could be a long evening for the Dutchman.

13th minute: Opportunity for PSG! Ramos finishes relatively free-standing, but his attempt goes a few meters past Kobel’s left post.

9th minute: Also noticeable: PSG are not pressing as aggressively as they did in the first leg. This is certainly due to concerns about Dortmund’s transition moments, who were able to repeatedly create moments of surprise a week ago with their lightning-fast counterattacks.

6th minute: The home team had a lot of steam in the game right from the start and had a lot of drive towards the goal. BVB, on the other hand, got off to a somewhat nervous start. However, it was clear that the Black and Yellows had to survive the initial phase.

3rd minute: Dortmund’s first approach through a standard situation from the right side. Brandt sends a free kick into the penalty area to Füllkrug, who takes the ball with his head. No problem for Donnarumma, however.

1st minute: The ball is rolling. Referee Orsato has cleared the game!

Update from May 7th, 8:54 p.m.: Kick-off in Prinzenpark is just a few minutes away! The atmosphere in Paris is electric, the tension ahead of this semi-final second leg is at its peak. Only the Champions League can do that! It’s about to start.

Update from May 7th, 8:33 p.m.: Of course, as before the first leg, the big question is: How does the BVB exceptional player Kylian Mbappé stop? Compared to the first leg, the Frenchman will start today on the left side – Goncalo Ramos will start in the center of the attack.

Edin Terzic didn’t seem worried at all before kick-off and said on the Prime Video microphone: “We have prepared the team for this. It’s about us playing our game – together. Just managing the starting position that we worked for in the first leg today won’t work.”

Update from May 7th, 8:13 p.m.: By the way, the referee for today’s game is Daniele Orsato. The Italian was already in action in Dortmund’s second leg of the round of 16 against PSV Eindhoven. BVB won the game 2-0. A good omen?

Update from May 7th, 7:54 p.m.: It was actually obvious that Terzic didn’t make any major changes compared to the first leg. Why? Those eleven players finally showed a really strong performance about a week ago. The line-up for the Bundesliga match against Augsburg at the weekend also suggested that Terzic would choose the same team today. After all, the BVB coach started the rotation machine against FCA and switched to ten positions except for Kobel.

PSG against BVB in the live ticker: Terzic trusts the first leg eleven

Update from May 7th, 7:48 p.m.: The official lineup of the black and yellow is here. In fact, BVB coach Terzic puts his trust in the team from the first leg. This is what Dortmund’s starting eleven looks like against PSG:

Kobel – Ryerson, Hummels, Schlotterbeck, Maatsen – Sabitzer, Can – Sancho, Brandt, Adeyemi – Füllkrug

Update from May 7th, 7:30 p.m.: The decisive semi-final second leg between BVB and PSG kicks off in an hour and a half. It is eagerly awaited which starting eleven Edin Terzic will choose for today’s task in the Prinzenpark. In a few minutes it should be ready and the official lineups will be published. Does Terzic trust the team from the first leg?

First report from May 7, 2024: Paris – Wembley within reach. Borussia Dortmund has a great opportunity to reach the final on Tuesday evening (all TV information). Champions League which will take place on June 1st in the London football temple.

If coach Edin Terzic’s team actually manages to reach the final this evening, it would be a return to Wembley around eleven years after the last final in the premier class. The narrow 1:2 defeat against the FC Bayern still marks one of the bitterest moments in the Dortmund club’s history.

BVB took in First leg narrow victory against PSG

In the semi-final first leg a week ago, BVB earned a 1-0 win against Paris St.-Germain with a strong performance at Signal Iduna Park. In today’s second leg, a draw would be enough to advance.

Even a narrow defeat with just one goal behind would not mean elimination – but the black and yellow would then have to look for the decision in extra time or even in the subsequent penalty shootout.

BVB expects a heated atmosphere in Paris’ Prinzenpark

One thing is clear: Dortmund have to prepare for a heated atmosphere in the Paris Prinzenpark. The PSG Ultras had already announced before the second leg that they wanted to transform the stadium into a cauldron.

“Our support will be unwavering, our legendary stadium will be a volcano that inflames our players and terrifies our opponents,” announced the “Collectif Ultras Paris” before the second leg: “From the warm-up to the final whistle, regardless of the score!”

For BVB star Marco Reus, today’s duel should be the last chance to reach a Champions League final. The 34-year-old announced his departure from Dortmund at the end of the season a few days ago.

The final on June 1st would be a worthy farewell gift for the BVB legend – ultimately winning the title would be the icing on the birthday cake, after all, Reus is celebrating his 35th birthday one day before the final. (kus)
