The FDP now wants to outdo itself with demands in asylum policy. Only recently did the Liberals propose giving refugees benefits in kind instead of cash, using chip cards and reducing remittances to home countries. The suggestion was heard and there was approval even in the SPD. Apparently this alarmed FDP leader Christian Lindner and Justice Minister Marco Buschmann. Where would liberals go if socialists agreed with them? So they immediately stepped up, now it’s time to move on to basic rights.
