After Achilles tendon rupture: Langer celebrates tournament comeback
Just three months after tearing his Achilles tendon, Bernhard Langer is playing tournament golf again. The 66-year-old’s quick comeback also amazed his fellow players on the PGA Tour Champions.
After rounds of 69 and 74 strokes, the Masters winner from 1985 and 1993 was tied for 31st place before the final day. This was also the final result because the tournament was canceled due to bad weather.
Pickleball injury
Due to heavy rain in the greater Houston area, the opening round of the tournament was postponed from Friday to Saturday. It was a busy day for Langer and his teammates, as the postponement meant the players had to complete two rounds on the par-72 course at the Woodlands Country Club.
In 2007, Langer celebrated his first victory on the over-50 tour at the tournament in the US state of Texas. In total he won it four times. So far in his career he has won 46 titles on the senior tour – more than anyone before.
At the beginning of February, Langer sustained the serious injury playing pickleball – a mixture of tennis, table tennis and badminton – in his adopted US hometown of Boca Raton. The quick comeback on the tour also amazed his teammates.
