The Palestinians in the West Bank, who are relatively wealthy compared to the Gaza Strip, are also suffering from the escalation of violence. There are always deaths, injuries and destruction there.

The Israeli army has carried out a major military operation in… At least two Palestinians were killed in the West Bank, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. In addition, seven residents were injured by gunfire.

The operation in the Nur Schams refugee camp in Tulkarem began on Friday and continued on Saturday, the Israeli army confirmed upon request. The army is taking action against armed people. The army also arrested numerous Palestinians and caused extensive damage to roads, utilities and residential buildings, the Palestinian side said.

Situation in the West Bank worsened

The situation in the West Bank has deteriorated significantly since the start of the war between Israel and the Islamist Hamas in the Gaza Strip on October 7th. According to the Ministry of Health, almost 450 Palestinians have since been killed in the West Bank alone. Most of them died in Israeli military operations. Some were also killed in their own attacks on Israelis.

Israel conquered, among other things, the West Bank and East Jerusalem in the Six-Day War in 1967. The Palestinians claim the areas for their own state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The Israeli army also continued its fight against the Islamist Hamas in the Gaza Strip. After a rocket attack on the Israeli town of Sderot on Friday, the launch pad in the town of Beit Hanun in the Gaza Strip was bombed, the army said on Saturday. Dozens of air strikes were also carried out on terrorist targets in other parts of the Gaza Strip. There was an air alarm in northern Israel on the border with Lebanon, which indicated a possible attack by the Shiite militia Hezbollah, which is allied with Iran.
