Images of Hamas supporters celebrating on German streets caused outrage. Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser now wants to examine and use legal means of expulsion.

Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser has spoken out in favor of expelling supporters of the Islamist terrorist organization Hamas from Germany. “We will use all legal options to expel Hamas supporters,” the SPD politician told “Bild am Sonntag”.

She received support from SPD leader Lars Klingbeil. “If someone who celebrates Hamas on German streets does not have German citizenship, then he should be expelled from Germany,” he told the newspapers of the Funke media group. We will exhaust all measures that the rule of law offers.

Last Saturday, hundreds of terrorists crossed the border into Israel in a surprise attack on behalf of Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, and caused a bloodbath. Since then, Israel has been attacking targets in the Gaza Strip.

Klingbeil warns against generalizations

Klingbeil also emphasized: “We are currently in the process of reforming citizenship law: naturalization is the strongest commitment to our country. Anyone who does not share our values, anyone who supports anti-Semitism and terror, will be denied a German passport.”

At the same time, the SPD chairman warned against generalizations. Anyone who glorifies Hamas’ crimes is committing a criminal offense. “But we shouldn’t condemn groups across the board. That doesn’t do justice to the diversity in our country,” he said.

The SPD leader demanded a clear positioning from the Muslim associations in Germany. “There must be a democratic consensus in our society that we condemn the barbaric terror of Hamas. I also expect the same from all Muslim associations in Germany. In doing so, they give a voice to the sensible.”

With regard to German support for the Palestinian territories, Klingbeil added: “It is not the Palestinians who are terrorists, Hamas who are the terrorists. Many Palestinians are themselves victims of Hamas’ terror.” The party leader made it clear: “We of course check all payments.” However, there is necessary help for water supply, health or the expansion of renewable energies.
