Men mourn differently – district of Munich

Men trust differently than women. That’s why the “men’s group” at the Ottobrunn hospice district offers them the opportunity not to have to pretend, but to speak openly – and also to laugh.

Men secretly cry, Herbert Grönemeyer once sang. The singer-songwriter also knew in his song “Men” that men are only hard on the outside – and very soft on the inside. That is why the Ottobrunn hospice district has recently had its own mourning group for men only. There men are among themselves, meet people with the same fate and can, if they want, give free rein to their feelings. It is a special kind of self-help group. To what extent, answer the prospective gerontologist Michael Depkat-Jakob, 44, who heads the group, and hospice coordinator Katrin Jaeger, 48, who is responsible for the bereavement area at the hospice group.
