Melanie Huml in the Czech Republic: New start with the neighbors – Bavaria

European Minister Melanie Huml is on her first trip abroad to Prague. Relations with the Czech Republic suffered during the corona pandemic, and it was tough for commuters in particular. Some in the state parliament are now hoping for a “quantum leap”.

It is a tight program that the Bavarian European Minister Melanie Huml expects in Prague. The State Chancellery has scheduled “numerous talks with high-ranking representatives of the Czech government and parliament” for the visit this Wednesday and Thursday – with Foreign Minister Jakub Kulhánek, politicians from the Ministry of Education, the State Secretary for Europe in Prague and MPs. Corona has “not undermined our friendly relations, but rather connected us closely in overcoming the crisis together,” says Huml. “We need to build on that and now get started together.” She now wants to “put together a powerful package” in Prague – from youth exchanges to economic relations.
