Meghan Markle has few friends in the kingdom. But critics rarely comment on the Duchess as vehemently as a royal expert. With her smug appearance, she embarrassed the royal family and embarrassed herself.

This appearance was a topic of conversation: On Thursday, Meghan Markle was a guest on the Ellen DeGeneres talk show – and chatted unusually frankly about her family life in Montecito, California with husband Prince Harry and their two children Archie and Lilibet. To do this, the Duchess got involved in a joke and took instructions from the presenter on how to behave via a hidden earphone while shopping.

What should look lifelike and relaxed did not go down well with everyone. Royal expert Anna Pasternak criticized the Duchess’s appearance on Fox News. “With her smug appearance at Ellen Meghan Markle embarrassed the royal family and embarrassed herself,” blasphemed the great-niece of Nobel Prize winner Boris Pasternak on US television.

Pasternak lives with her family in Oxfordshire in the south of England and has written, among other things, the book “The American Duchess: The Real Wallis Simpson” – about the woman for whom King Edward VIII abdicated in 1936 in order to be able to marry her.

Meghan Markle is often compared to Wallis Simpson

Because Prince Harry and Meghan Markle also married a divorced American, the two women are often compared. Pasternak does not want to accept the comparison: “Wallis Simpson behaved extremely dignified during her exile in the British monarchy.”

These words do not occur to her for the US actress (“Suits”): “Meghan’s terrifying appearance on ‘Ellen’ was the opposite of dignified,” says Pasternak. She has no idea what purpose it served other than to make her look even more celebrity-hungry than ever. Meghan never understood the difference between celebrity and royalty, “as this devastatingly terrible, tasteless interview proves.”

Meghan and Prince Harry gave up all royal duties in 2020 and left the UK to settle near Los Angeles. Of course, even there they are not safe from the gaze of their British critics.
