Ex-President Trump has been sharply attacked by Republicans after receiving a well-known racist. US rapper Kanye West was also there. Both have spread anti-Semitic slogans in the past.
Former US President Donald Trump has received criticism from within his own ranks for hosting racist Nick Fuentes at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. “I don’t think it’s a good idea for a leader who wants to be an example for the country or the party to meet with a self-confessed racist or anti-Semite,” Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson told the broadcaster CNN.
Influential Republican House Representative James Comer told NBC that Trump needs better judgment about who he is having dinner with. Trump wants to run again for the Republicans in the 2024 presidential election.
Fuentes is referred to as a “white supremacist”.
The US Department of Justice describes Fuentes as someone who believes white people are superior. The anti-racism organization Anti-Defamation League calls him a “white supremacist”. “White supremacy” describes the ideology of white supremacy. Fuentes also ridiculed the Holocaust.
Trump wrote on his social platform Truth Social that he met Fuentes at a reception last week that was also attended by rapper Ye, known by his former name Kanye West. West had recently caused outrage with controversial actions and anti-Semitic statements. Because of such statements, the sporting goods manufacturer Adidas announced its cooperation with him.

CNN: Fuentes was a guest of West – not Trump
Trump stated that he got along well with Ye. He said he wasn’t anti-Semitic and said nice things about him on the Tucker Carlson TV show. “Why would I not agree to a meeting? Also, I didn’t know Nick Fuentes,” Trump wrote.
The news portal “Axios” reported, citing an unnamed source, that Trump seemed “very impressed” by Fuentes. The two talked about the presidential election. “To be honest, I don’t think the President knew who the hell he (Fuentes) was,” Axios quoted the source as saying. The broadcaster CNN also reported that Fuentes was a guest of West and was not invited by Trump.
West posted a video to Twitter after dinner claiming Trump was “impressed” with Fuentes. The ex-president himself is known for spreading conspiracy theories. He repeatedly agitates against minorities.
White House criticizes Trump for meetings
The White House also condemned Trump for the meeting. “Intolerance, hatred and anti-Semitism have absolutely no place in America, including Mar-a-Lago,” White House Deputy Press Secretary Andrews Bates told CNN. Holocaust denial is “disgusting and dangerous” and must be “resolutely condemned”.
Former US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman tweeted: “To my friend Donald Trump, you are better than that. Also meeting an anti-Semite like Kanye West and human scum like Nick Fuentes is unacceptable.”
