An owl has injured its beak. However, its owner did not take the bird to the vet, but to a dentist. Can this go well?

A dentist from Dorsten treated an owl in his practice. The Siberian bird of prey named “Juri” had previously injured its beak, its owner Ralf Lukavecz reported in a video published on Monday by the “Marler Zeitung” and the “Dorstener Zeitung”.

The owl probably wanted to peck at the neighbor’s chickens and hit the grating. “Part of the horn plate broke off and the tip of the beak also broke off,” said the falconer.

The owner did not seek help from a veterinarian, but from a dentist friend of his. There he can be sure that the materials used to treat people are non-toxic, he said. With the help of modeling clay, the dentist Stefan Hüttermann repaired the bird’s beak on Good Friday.

His practice was closed to patients over the Easter holidays anyway. “It’s a nice thing to do something like that with an animal,” said Hüttermann. A long time ago he had already taken impressions of a Great Dane. “Ultimately, I still have all ten fingers, so everything seems to have gone well,” says the doctor. As a result of the treatment, the eagle owl’s broken beak can now grow back.
