The video, which has been circulating on social media since Sunday, seems so absurd that even many Afghans were initially unsure whether it shows reality or a satirical group doing a sketch. A presenter from the station “Afghanistan TV” welcomes the guests to a political debate in a blue-gray suit, but first gives a little hint about the state of the nation. The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan – as the Taliban call themselves – is now the dominant power in the country, but don’t worry: the population should simply “cooperate and not be afraid”.
