Grill manufacturer Weber sent out instructions for meatloaf as “Recipe of the Week” – of all things after the death of singer and actor Meat Loaf became known. The company has since apologized.

When sending out a newsletter, the barbecue manufacturer Weber showed an unfortunate knack: the subscribers received a recipe for meatloaf by e-mail – on the very day when Meat Loaf’s death became known. His stage name means “meatloaf”.

As the AP news agency reports, the company apologized in another email on the same day. “At the time we sent you the recipe, we were unaware of the death of American singer and actor Marvin Lee Aday, aka Meat Loaf,” it said. “We sincerely apologize for this oversight and for any offense this email may have caused.”

The US company also offered its condolences to the family and fans of Meat Loaf. The rock musician died on Thursday evening at the age of 74. His death was announced on his official Facebook page on Friday. Meat Loaf was best known for his hit “I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That)” in the early 1990s. The anthemic song topped the charts in 28 countries and won a Grammy. He also played in the cult film “Fight Club”. Meat Loaf owed his stage name to his corpulence, for which he was often teased as a child.

There was initially no official information on the cause of death, but according to a report by the US magazine TMZ, the singer and actor is said to have died as a result of Covid 19 disease. Meat Loaf had previously spoken out against corona vaccinations in interviews and said: “If I die, then I will die, but I will not let myself be controlled.”
